Testosterone Replacement Therapy

Personalized evaluation, treatment and ongoing support for men experiencing symptoms of low testosterone.

What Is Testosterone Replacement Therapy?

TRT is a prescription treatment that supplements the body’s natural testosterone when levels are clinically low. At Peak Hydration, treatment is based on your health history, symptoms, lab results and physician evaluation, with a personalized plan and ongoing medical monitoring.

Dr. Heather Honey, D.O.

Dr. Honey is Peak Hydration’s Medical Director, a board-certified family medicine physician and licensed throughout Washington. She conducts your initial and follow-up consultations by telehealth and determines whether TRT may be appropriate based on your symptoms, health history and laboratory results.

When You Don’t Feel Like Yourself

Symptoms of Low Testosterone

TRT is a prescription treatment that supplements the body’s natural testosterone when levels are clinically low. At Peak Hydration, treatment is based on your health history, symptoms, lab results and physician evaluation, with a personalized plan and ongoing medical monitoring.

Feeling unusually tired, run down or unable to maintain your normal energy.

Difficulty with concentration, memory, mental clarity or focus.

A noticeable decrease in sexual interest or desire.

Increased irritability, low mood or symptoms of depression.

Weight gain, increased body fat or loss of muscle mass.

Taking longer than usual to recover after physical activity.

Changes in sleep quality or difficulty getting restorative sleep.

Difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection.

These symptoms do not automatically mean that you have low testosterone. Peak’s evaluation considers your symptoms, health information and lab results together.

A More Complete Approach to Men’s Health

TRT Is About More Than Building Muscle

Testosterone is only one part of a much bigger health picture. Dr. Honey looks beyond a single hormone level or symptom to consider the whole person. By evaluating your full blood count, estradiol, SHBG and PSA alongside testosterone levels, symptoms, and health history, Dr. Honey can assess what is affecting your overall well-being and recommend the appropriate treatment.

Personalized, Medically Supervised Care

Your TRT Program, Step by Step

Peak’s program brings together physician evaluation, included lab testing and local nursing support to guide you from your initial intake through treatment and follow-up.

Complete Peak’s TRT-specific health intake form via Jane.

A Peak RN will call to review your intake, answer your questions and determine whether you appear to qualify for the next stage.

Peak will order and pay for five laboratory tests through Quest Diagnostics:

  • CBC
  • Free and total testosterone
  • Estradiol
  • SHBG
  • PSA

TRT may not be appropriate for individuals with:

• Prostate cancer
• Breast cancer
• Elevated PSA
• Baseline hematocrit of >48%
• Hematocrit of >54%

During a 40-minute telehealth consultation, Dr. Honey will review your symptoms, health history and lab results to determine whether TRT may be appropriate.

If TRT is appropriate, Dr. Honey will develop your treatment plan and prescribe the form of testosterone selected for you.

After approximately three months, Peak will pay for the same five laboratory tests again. You will then meet with Dr. Honey for a 20-minute follow-up consultation to review your response and make adjustments when necessary.

A Plan Built Around You

Your Testosterone Treatment Options

There are several forms of prescription testosterone. Injectable testosterone is the most common, but Dr. Honey will help determine the appropriate option based on your health, preferences, coverage and treatment plan.

If you are prescribed injectable testosterone and prefer not to administer it yourself, you may bring your medication to Peak Hydration and have a registered nurse administer it for you.

How Your Testosterone Is Filled

Because testosterone is a controlled substance, it cannot be picked up at the Peak Hydration lounge. You can choose how your prescribed testosterone is paid for and delivered.

Dr. Honey will send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. You can use insurance coverage when available or pay the pharmacy directly for your medication.

You are responsible for the cost of testosterone and any additional medications.

Peak will pay for your prescribed testosterone through its pharmacy. The pharmacy will contact you and ship the medication directly to your home.

Additional medications are not included.

Frequently Asked Questions

What to Know Before Getting Started

Symptoms alone cannot determine whether you have low testosterone. Peak’s evaluation includes a health intake, a conversation with a registered nurse, lab testing and a consultation with Dr. Honey.

During your 40-minute telehealth consultation, Dr. Honey will evaluate your symptoms and lab results, discuss your questions and concerns, and review your treatment options. If TRT is warranted, she will develop a personalized treatment plan.

Peak pays for five tests before your initial consultation and again before your follow-up consultation: CBC, free and total testosterone, estradiol, SHBG and PSA.
Testing is completed through Quest Diagnostics.

You can choose between a program that allows you to use insurance for testosterone or a program in which Peak pays for your prescribed testosterone. Both options include the same consultations, laboratory testing and access to Peak’s medical team.

If you are using insurance, Dr. Honey will send the prescription to your chosen pharmacy. If testosterone is included in your program, Peak’s pharmacy will contact
you directly and ship it to your home.

Testosterone cannot be picked up at Peak Hydration.

Yes. If you are prescribed injectable testosterone and prefer not to self-inject, you may bring your medication to the lounge and have it administered by a Peak RN.

Follow-up lab work is completed after approximately three months. You will then have a 20-minute consultation with Dr. Honey to review your levels, symptoms, treatment efficacy, possible side effects and dosage.

No. Peak does not use testosterone pellets because they are not considered a good option for providing consistent hormone levels within this program.

• Prostate cancer
• Breast cancer
• Elevated PSA without evaluation
• Baseline hematocrit of 48% or higher

Eligibility is determined through the health intake, laboratory results and consultation with Dr. Honey.
