Semaglutide      &      Tirzepatide

                       (Ozempic & Wegovy)                                                                           (Mounjaro)

WHY

Obesity is the leading cause of many health issues including heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Statistics show an overwhelming percentage of American adults are obese or overweight. Many health-related conditions require first-line management of weight with physical exercise or dietary restrictions, where losing upwards of 5-10% of body weight has been associated with reduced risks of complications, specifically of cardiovascular origin.

WHAT ARE
SEMAGLUTIDE & TIRZEPATIDE?

Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) analogs. GLP-1 is a peptide hormone produced in the small intestine that stimulates insulin secretion and inhibits glucagon secretion, slows gastric emptying, and regulates appetite – ALL of which aid in healthy and effective weight loss. Tirzepatide has an additional mechanism of action which is a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) which reduces appetite and food intake.

Semaglutide was approved in 2021 and Tirzepatide in 2023 in injectable forms for people with obesity that require chronic weight management. Semaglutide and Tirzepatide were approved for obese patients, or overweight patients that have at least one condition contributed by their weight such as high blood pressure, type II diabetes (for which it is normally indicated), or high cholesterol. Obesity is defined as 30kg/m2 or greater, and overweight patients are defined as 27kg/m2.

In clinical trials, Semaglutide resulted in a loss of 15-20% body weight, up to 2x as effective as other weight loss drugs on the market.  See this STUDY.  Likewise, Tirzepatide resulted in an average weight loss of 20.9% body weight, see this STUDY in the New England Journal of Medicine.

*You should not use Semaglutide or Tirzepatide if you or your family have a history of medullary thyroid cancer (MEN Type 2), if you have Type 1 diabetes, a history of DKA, history of diabetic retinopathy, if you have had pancreatitis, if you have severe kidney or liver problems, or if you have had an allergic reaction to a GLP-1 medication in the past.

HOW DOES IT WORK

Semaglutide and Tirzepatide help to stabilize your blood sugar. GLP-1, the key hormone involved for both, slows gastric emptying, the rate at which your stomach empties food. They also block the hormone glucagon that causes your liver to release sugar. These aid in appetite control, making you feel less hungry, and therefore eat less and lose more weight. The combination of these actions leads to glucose homeostasis, which triggers the burning of fat storage for energy.  Additionally, Tirzepatide contains an additional GIP hormone which helps with further appetite suppression.

SIDE EFFECTS

Side effects with Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are usually minimal. At higher doses, there can be more side effects like nausea, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation.

Some positive side effects that some people report are a curbed desire for sweets and alcohol.

Semaglutide and Tirzepatide have been shown to be safe and effective for the treatment of obesity and being overweight with other risk factors.

HOW WILL I RECEIVE IT

Once enrolled in the program, we will work with you to either schedule your weekly injections at the Peak Hydration Lounge or provide you with the supplies, education, and have the medication shipped directly to you, for self administration at home (At Home option only for the Basic programs, addition fees apply).

OUR APPROACH

Our goal for you with this program is to help you get healthier!  And while yes, the plan is for you to lose weight, we also want to encourage you to help start and/or grow lifelong healthy habits during the time on the medication, so that when you are finished you not only will be more likely to keep the weight off, but also so that you will be healthier overall.  We will encourage you to be hydrated, make nutritious eating choices to fuel your body well, and with movement and exercise.  We have an excellent dietitian on staff who can provide specific, tailored guidance to your nutrition needs and requirements as well as partnership gyms/fitness centers to aid in further help with exercise and fitness. Our friendly and understanding team is happy to provide you with some friendly accountability, tips, tricks, and ideas to spur you on to a healthier you!

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR MEDICATIONS?

Great question!  Our Semaglutide and Tirzepatide come from US pharmacies and are fully made in the USA.  They are pure Semaglutide and Tirzepatide bases (not the salt bases) from pharmacies approved by the FDA for the manufacturing of these medications. They are not cut with any unnecessary ingredients nor do they have things added to them other than the necessary stabilizing agents. They are also sent out for third party testing for verification of purity and sterility.

WHAT'S in THE SHREDDER?

The Shredder is a great nutrient cocktail!  It’s a great addition to the Weight Loss Program due to some of it’s key ingredients that help boost energy and metabolism, help with hormone and insulin regulation, and aid in reducing unwanted possible side effects from the medications.  Here are it’s ingredients and what they do:

MIC –     L-Methionine – amino acid that is good for fat metabolization and muscle building

Inositol – carbocyclic sugar found in the brain and important in cell signal transduction, helps with cell structure; may help balance certain chemicals in the body related to PCOS and some mental conditions, may aid in blood sugar control and hormone regulation

Choline – essential nutrient important for metabolism utilized by brain and nervous system in regulating memory, mood, muscle control and other functions

Vitamin B12 – most bioavailable form (methylcobalamin), boosts energy and metabolism, promotes cognitive (brain & nerves) health, can aid in preventing neurocognitive diseases and part of red blood cell formation

Vitamin B-Complex – Thiamine (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Niacinamide (B3), Panthenol (B5) – these vitamins are involved in over 100 essential functions in your body

Vitamin C – vitamin & antioxidant contributes in the formation of blood vessels, cartilage, muscle and collagen in bones, vital for healing, protects from free radicals, helps absorb iron

HOW DO I START?

Weight Loss Intake - Step 1

Fill Out our Weight Loss Intake Form! Click Here and select “Weight Loss – INTAKE FORM ONLY”. You will “book” an appointment (for anytime, this isn’t an actual appointment that you need to arrive at, it will just send you the intake form). Please try to complete the intake form by your scheduled “appointment” time.  When your intake is completed (don’t worry, it’s short), we review it, then contact you within 5-7 business days and let you know if you seem to be a good possible candidate for the program and get you going on Steps 2 & 3 (below).

Lab Work - Step 2

A few labs will also need to be completed outside of Peak Hydration. We can order these for you through Quest Diagnostic (which you can use insurance on) or by your primary care practitioner, but will need to be reviewed prior to being enrolled in the program. If you have had these specific labs (A1C, TSH, BMP) completed in the last 3 months, those can be submitted for reviewal and don’t necessarily need to be redrawn.

Physician Consult - Step 3

If you seem to be a good candidate, then we schedule an In-Person or Tele-Health appointment with Dr. Heather Honey. At that appointment, your current health conditions, medical history, medications, labs and current BMI will be reviewed and Dr. Honey will decide if if one or both of these medications is right for you on your weight loss journey. The consult is $150, non-refundable.

IS IT COVERED BY INSURANCE?

We do not participate in insurance programs, but we do take HSA/FSA! We are also happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance.
